RecapSpring 2018Spring League Finals Recaps

Mens

The spring men’s beach league concluded it’s 6th season on 5/5, with a dominant performance by Slow and Furious.  Led by ‘Hammer’ Dave Adelson and Nick Kioski, they won the regular season with a 9-2 record. S&F were given a good 1st round game in the tourney from Delta Force, but playing together all season gave them the edge over D.F., even though they had picked up Eric Brach for the day.  Boys with the Dragon Tattoo, 7-4 on the season, won their 1st round tourney game 12-10, but and beat D.F. 11-6, but didn’t have enough left in the tank to beat S&F in the finals, with a final score of 11-7.

The heartbreaker of the season came on universe point of the 3rd place game in the tourney.  Delta Force was winless on the season, not even winning a half. They took half of this last game, which came down to universe point, with several turnovers both ways, and an injury sub, Raiders of the Lost Mark squeaked out the W, and kept D.F. winless on the season.

Men’s league is a live draft league.  All players pre-rank themselves during registration, then on the first day they play pick-up, while the captains draft the teams. The men’s league is a 5×5 league, and we’d love for you to play next year.

We’d also love to have a 5×5 beach co-ed draft league, but we just don’t know when a good time of year to do that is.  If you have a suggestion, please email Goat at LABeachUltimate@gmail.com

Womens

2018 – The year of the space cat. The LA Women’s Beach League had an incredibly successful season with over 50 women participating and so many new faces, not only to beach but to ultimate in general.   New and experienced players were able to improve their skills during our two mini clinics and we had amazing attendance at our bring a friend day. This season we saw some incredible layouts on O and D, some sick full field hucks, and new players scoring their first points ever in an ultimate game.  In the end, Team Blue capped off a dominant season and took home first place winning the tournament. Every Caturday was a pleasure playing with these ladies!

Thanks,

Adair
