I had a bit of a rough weekend. Wanna hear about it? Of course you do. You love stories of pain, you ambulance chaser you.
The plus was a very nice wedding on Friday. But…..
We couldn’t find a sitter for our dogs, so we dropped them off at this place in Riverside through Rover.com. But the conditions of their place were sketchy as hell, and the guy who met us was a little sketch himself. They should have had an hanging off the window. I mean it wasn’t Hoarders, but it was pretty dirty. As soon as we dropped them off, Erin started freaking out. Within an hour she drove back there to get them out. We ended up paying for another Rover.com person.
That night we got locked out of our Air bnb. The code they gave us didn’t work, and nobody responded to our repeated texts and phone calls. I would’ve just got the dogs and driven home, but all our stuff was in there. Eventually I found an unlocked door in the back. Thank God.
Saturday night we had to call the cops on our neighbors for partying too late. But that was nothing.
Last night we had to call the cops on them AGAIN. They were playing music until 3:30AM when a fight broke out and an old lady got knocked to the ground. I was talking to the cops at 4AM this morning. I’m a little tired. I’m not a fan of those neighbors.
Oh, and I got hit in the eye by a huck at pick-up yesterday. And so I have a black eye today. Five months after I had a black eye on the other eye.
Haha. So how was YOUR weekend?
I wish I could say, but at least my Summer League team won on Friday. But no. In the battle of Orange vs. Neon Orange, the Neons took it. Here’s Sonja Roden from my team Garfield with the recap:
A tail of 2 kitties…
It was the best of games, it was the worst of games…at least we prepared for the worst considering it was the first game of the season and we were missing both of our captains which meant in total we were down 5 men and 4 ladies. Thankfully Felix loaned us Nay so our women didn’t have to play savage. Maybe it was just a ruse to learn all of our super secret plays in preparation of our game Wednesday but it was greatly appreciated. Thanks Nay!
Anyhoo, there was a game, the disc was thrown a lot and caught some. PNB came out strong and it was 3-0 when Garfield finally managed to score…our only point in the first half. Now one of the perks of having Brian Kuhn on your team is that he keeps meticulous stats so the rest of us don’t have to waste our brain nuggets with the whole counting/numbers thing. Many of you will notice a trend in the first half scoring…freaking James Renfroe! Don’t get me wrong, I love this man and his super slick hammer – when I’m on his team. When playing against him it’s pretty much the bane of your existence. The man threw 6 of their first 8 points. I mean come on, quit showing off Renfroe.
Garfield pulls to PNB…
James to Jorge 1-0 PNB
James to Jorge 2-0
Paul to Jorge 3-0
Peebs to Scoops 3-1
James to Paul 4-1
James to Carl 5-1
James to Marlee 6-1
Jorge to Meg 7-1
James to Paul 8-1
Garfield had a lovely little chat during halftime about something game related or whatever and decided we are a second half team. Lo and behold we weren’t just blowing smoke, we actually are. We start the 2nd half with a Frances/Ryan-Ryan/Frances combo which motivated the rest of to also do stuff and things. The 2nd half both teams scored 7 points, sadly PNB was so far ahead we just couldn’t recover. On top of a great 2nd half we finished strong with a deliberately awkward cheer for our feline foes. All in all it was a great night, the weather was perfect and we had great spirit all night, encouraging attitudes and once we started figuring each other out some pretty decent game play. It will be fun to see what we can do once we get the whole crew together. As a player who is 80% nonsense, 5% competition and 10% overstuffed laziness I am looking forward to the summer with this bunch.

Puss N Boots Wins
PNB has some very fast guys who played super hard D and caught us waiting for the disc and capitalized on that and their women had some speed of their own on top of great hands. They also had great attitudes which made it more fun.
FYI, we totally dominated PNB at the bar Friday night which we all know is far more important than the frisbee portion of the evening.
Yes, that’s true. We definitely drafted a strong bar attendance team. I wish I was there to share drinks with my team, but I’m excited for our new bar this Wednesday when we play at Hollywood High.
