Over the past three years, SCYU’s amazing team of coaches has taught over 4,000 elementary school students how to play the game we love. We do this through our fantastic partner, LA’s Best, who opens their school sites to us and buys discs for each of their 103 sites. But what most LA community members don’t realize is that SCYU has to find outside funding to pay all of our staff. Last year we hired 12 part-time coaches who covered 65 schools in 6 weeks! (And we’re even prouder to say that six of our coaches were college or post-grads in our community.) Our hard cost for staff was $8,693.17. All of that was possible because of support from people like you.

This year, we’re dreaming even bigger! We are going to increase the frequency with which we are teaching and are going to be teaching at more schools. What’s more, is that we’re dedicating two coaches to coach exclusively at four schools in historic South-Central each day for two weeks. At the end of those two weeks, those students will play in an end of summer round-robin tournament! We have big hopes for what that tournament can be, but it also comes with costs of bussing students to fields and everything else that goes into throwing a tournament. To do all of that, we need your help!

Our Annual Silent Auction and youth event revenue are a fraction of what it will take to make this happen. We need to raise $15,000 to take this program to that next level.
