1 League, 1 New Youth Pick-up Game, 2 Summer Programs, & 4,000 Students!
Summer is here and SCYU is in action. We have a couple of oldies and a bunch of new programs to introduce, so we are going to need your help to get them moving and grooving. We actually need a lot of help as we estimate we’ll teach over 4,000 students the sport of ultimate this summer alone!There are 3 great ways to support SCYU and help grow SoCal youth ultimate:

What are the programs? Glad you asked!
- LA’s Best Summer Program – 91 LA County elementary schools, 4,000 students, in 6 weeks!
- Either 4 or 7 hours per day; June 19-July 26
- Volunteer for a day or two or all 27!
- Apply to be an official SCYU paid coach!
- Either 4 or 7 hours per day; June 19-July 26
- CREST Summer Sports Camp’s “Ultimate Week” – Three 2-hour days coaching the youth of Santa Monica.
- ◦ 9-11am; June 18, 19, & 21
- Silver Lake Summer League – SCYU’s oldest league is vital to maintaining our relationship with LA Parks; and these young kids need some energetic coaches!
- Tuesday evening practices; 45-min games on Saturday mornings; June 11 – August 4
- Lincoln Middle School Youth Pick-Up & Beginners Clinics – Come teach some skills and drills to Santa Monica youth!
- Fridays 7-9pm; June 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3, 10
Reasons to get out and volunteer: • Get those community service hours done for school!
- We work with 80% under-resourced students in the summer, most of whom have never even heard of ultimate; you could be their first coach.
- You have some down time but want to stay active.
- You want a good excuse to get out from behind your desk and help out.
- It just feels good!
We look forward to seeing and working with a lot of you this summer! And please spread the word that we’re hiring: tell your teams, tell college players, tell your under-employed and freelancing friends. All in all we will need at least 8 coaches this summer.
