Started in 2006 on a whim that some people might want to play Ultimate on the beach. It also boasts being the leader in dolphin sightings amongst all leagues in LA.
League Leadership
- League Director (On-Site Director): Jan Smogorzewski/Tony Paoli
- Back-up League Director: Abe Ho
Schedule
- League runs every Sunday starting on October 4th to December 13th, with December 14th being the end-of-season tournament.
- There will be no games on November 29th, as that is the weekend after Thanksgiving and we historically cancel that week
- Two games every Sunday (10:00AM-11:00AM, 11:10AM-12:10PM)
Dynamic Scheduling Changes/Philosophy
While there was mixed feedback last year about the competition level and divisional splits, the overwhelming consensus was that Fall Beach is about seeing all of your friends and hanging out with the community.
This year the dynamic schedule will be based on a hybrid model.
There will be 1 big division for the regular season. While its not likely you will be able to play every other team, you will also not play the same teams twice.
Each week your two matchups will be based on different philosophies, you will have 1 game with a team close to your power ranking and 1 game with a team farther from your power ranking. This way, we get the variety of playing with everyone in the community, without the frustration of a potential double blowout day.
Schedules for the next Sunday will be released earlier in the week.
Playoffs
Playoff seeding will be based off of record and strength of schedule.
There will be either 2 or 3 divisions depending on how many teams there are and how wide the skill gaps are. The divisions will also be split nearly equally, we will not have the massive size difference there was last year between A and B.
Free Agents/Individuals
If you do not have a team, you can sign up as an individual/free agent. Your payment will be defered as league directors try to find you a team. If there are enough people, a free agent team will be formed. There is no guarantee for free agents to find teams.
